Inspired by the life of Mr. Merchant, a half-Parsi, half-Bohri man who grew up in cosmopolitan Bombay, this unique dining experience is rooted in his travels along the Silk Road and Mediterranean, seeking out rare spices, fabrics, and of course, exceptional food.

In the 1940s, Mr. Merchant worked with a trading house in Horniman Circle, Fort, while weaving through bustling markets in Kolkata, Kochi, Iran, and Constantinople. Armed with a small notebook, he meticulously recorded his culinary discoveries—detailing every dish, adding sketches and even pressed spices. Mr. Merchant’s table was where food lovers gathered, sharing stories over kebabs, curries, and fragrant spices.

It became a place for those with discerning palates to indulge in both simple and elaborate dishes.
